We would like to thank you for your ongoing
support and contributions. 2011 was a very eventful year for the Photonics Explorer. We
successfully completed our Annual Review with the European Commission. The
first workshop in August 2011 kicked off the Europe wide field
testing of the kits. Thanks to all our collective efforts, the
Photonics Explorer was tested in 7 countries across Europe with extremely
positive results! EYESTvzw – Excite Youth for Engineering
Science and Technology, a non-profit organisation, was established to ensure
the sustainability of the Photonics Explorer beyond the EU funded phase. Unfortunately, towards the end of 2011, Dr. Robert Fischer left the team to move on to new
challenges. There is already a great deal of interest in having the kit in
additional countries. We are working hard to ensure that we can bring the
Photonics Explorer to as many classrooms as possible. We hope that with your
help, support and involvement we can continue to grow to spread the
excitement of light and optics throughout Europe! Best wishes, The Photonics Explorer team

The Photonics Explorer kit was extensively tested in secondary schools
across Europe from September - December 2011. Over 1500 students participated
in the field tests that took place in 7 EU countries – Belgium, Bulgaria,
France, Germany, Poland, Spain and UK. In each country the kit was tested in
the local language. The developer team and evaluation team from IPN visited
several classrooms to interact with the students and teachers and watch the
kit in action!
We will be
present at the following events: Second Workshop of the Photonics Explorer 15th April 2012 Brussels Photonics Europe Innovation Village 16-19th April 2012 Brussels
